One of the UooUoo's on the Royal Children's Hospital Public Art Trail is located in Prahran Square!
To mark the 150th anniversary of The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Melbourne, the RCH Foundation is bringing colour and creativity to the streets of Melbourne and Geelong with a spectacular public art trail, to celebrate and raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital.
Running until 21 March 2021, Me and UooUoo (pronounced you-you) combines Victoria’s renowned passion for the arts and culture with a dash of outdoor adventure, while encouraging communities to reconnect with their cities, and be active by visiting one hundred unique art sculptures.
Each UooUoo – individually designed by an Australian artist and sponsored by a Victorian business – will find a home in any one of Melbourne and Geelong’s laneways, streets, parks and public spaces.
One of these unique pieces, named ‘You Are Not Alone’, by artist Nani Puspasari, will be located in Prahran Square during the trail. This strangely cute, pink and black dugong looking creature is hard to miss, but take a look a little closer, as each UooUoo has its own story.
Nani tells us that the purpose of her UooUoo is to shine a light on the importance of mental health. Using the lantern as the symbol of hope, this UooUoo tells a story about the strength of females and the power in connecting and supporting each other.
When the art trail finishes, the sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for the RCH. So, what are you waiting for, join the UooUoo’s on a colourful outdoor adventure to help raise funds and change the future of paediatric healthcare for generations to come.
